Medical Director and Clinical Consultant
Dr. Nystrom is a distinguished physician with nearly 20 years of experience in Medical Directorship and rural healthcare. He has served as the Medical Director for multiple high-acuity behavioral health centers, including Ivory Plains and St. Gregory Recovery Center, where he has worked closely with Amy to ensure medical safety in detox and residential settings. His leadership extends beyond the clinic, having served as the Medical Director for Carroll County EMS and various long-term care facilities.
Board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Nystrom was honored as the IAFP Family Physician of the Year in 2019. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathy from Des Moines University and has served as adjunct clinical faculty for both the University of Iowa and Des Moines University. In his role, he ensures that medical and nursing workflows are rigorous, evidence-based, and fully compliant with state and federal regulations.
